Our Quilting Ministry is a vital part of our wider outreach, coordinated through the ministry of Lutheran World Relief. In the group at St. Paul’s, there are about 6 participants who design and sew the quilt tops. When they meet twice a month we finish up the tops and have a fun time socializing and have refreshments at the end of the meeting. The designers are Bert Wallace, Bev Adamo, Dee Buzzanell, Barbara Dougherty, Susan Lilly and Serena White. The support team so to speak are Ruth Fowble , Sue Bounds, Susan Frank and Mimi DeGrafft. After the display and blessing of the quilts each November, the quilts are taken up to New Windsor, MD to be shipped all over the country and the world through the ministry of Lutheran World Relief.
The group is grateful for Beth and Tom Schmidt for their generous support of their donation to the group. The money received from them helps to buy supplies and shipping cost for the quilts. Many people have donated fabric and even partial finished quilts to help them along in our mission to help those in need. Thank you!
If you are interested in joining in this ministry, the group will start up again in January, 2020 and meet through October to complete quilts for next year. They meet on the first and third Thursdays of each month in the Spangler Hall Youth Room at 1 p.m. Please be in touch with Serena White for more information.
